AWARDS & ADJUDICATION


Overview

Turn It Up Dance Challenge focuses on a fair and challenging awards system while keeping our ceremony fresh and exciting! Our score system is based on 100 points per judge for a total of 300 points. Turn It Up Dance Challenge uses a separate scoring grid designed to help novice dancers gain confidence when taking the competitive stage.

Performances will be judged on the following criteria:

Technique, Stage presence, Difficulty, Execution, Choreography, Costume

Routines that receive a silver or higher will be eligible to compete at Nationals.


Special Awards

At each regional and national competition Turn It Up Dance Challenge recognizes unique an entertaining performers with our special awards. These awards are custom designed and presented directly by our judges’ panel.

Sportsmanship Award -New-

This award goes to the studio that demonstrates the most professionalism, etiquette, and sportsmanship backstage at each regional and national competition and is presented at each regional and national competition.

Most Entertaining Award -New-

This award goes to the routine that the judges feel was the most entertaining routine and is presented at each regional and national competition.

Invitations on the Turn It Up Dance Team -New-

At each regional competition our judges will pick routines to be invited on to the “Turn It Up Elite Dance Team”. This team will have a chance to work one on one with top choreographers to perform at our Nationals held on Cape Cod, MA. Keep posted online for more details!

Title Awards -New-

Title awards are given out at our Nationals competition. Contestants must submit a minimum of 2 solo entries to be considered for the title. There will be a short question and answer panel at the completion of their routines. Title award winners will win cash prizes, Turn It Up Apparel and more.


Mr. & Miss Mini Turn It Up 5-8 years old
Mr. & Miss Junior Turn It Up 9-12 years old
Mr. & Miss Teen Turn It Up 13-15 years old
Mr. & Miss Senior Turn It Up 16-18 years old

High Score Awards

$50.00 CASH Solo - Mini, Junior, Teen, Sr. Teen, Adult
$50.00 CASH Duo/Trio - Mini, Junior, Teen, Sr. Teen, Adult
$100.00 CASH Small Group - Mini, Junior, Teen, Sr. Teen, Adult
$150.00 CASH Large Group - Mini, Junior, Teen, Sr. Teen, Adult
$200.00 CASH Line - Mini, Junior, Teen, Sr. Teen, Adult
$200.00 CASH Production - Mini, Junior, Teen, Sr. Teen, Adult

Additional Notes

• Cash scholarships will be awarded at Regionals and cash will be awarded at Nationals to the studios of the winners
• There must be at least 5 dances in each category to be eligible for cash prizes
• Must be at least 3 dances in each category to qualify for a trophy award.
