Kathy Ryan
Kathy Ryan joins Turn it Up Dance Challenge as current dance director of Kathy Ryan Dance Studio located in Norfolk, MA where she was nominated in Who’s Who among American Teachers. Kathy Ryan has judged numerous professional dance competitions in the area including American Miss, Performance Plus as well as Miss Massachusetts pageants affiliated with the Miss America Pageant. Kathy Ryan is also a former member of the New England Patriots Cheerleading squad as well as the USFL Boston Breakers “Heartbreakers”. We are delighted to welcome Miss Kathy Ryan to our panel of judges this season.

Javin Ashlaw
Javin Ashlaw honors Turn it Up dance challenge coming from numerous professional dance backgrounds. She has studied at Oklahoma City University’s School for American Dance and Arts Management. With both a talent and academic scholarship, Javin studied with such professionals as Jo Rowan, Lyn Cramer, Richard Denson, and Liz Reiter. Javin is also an active member of the National Dance Alliance. With NDA Javin spent two summers touring the United States as an instructor for summer dance intensives. She enjoys instructing as well as choreographing. In 2004-2005, Javin’s award –winning modern piece “War Among Us” was inducted into the Hall of Fame Dance Challenge in Worcester, MA. She has also performed in a televised special at the Starbound National Talent Showcase in Atlantic City, NJ. Recently, Javin has danced with Jean Ann Ryan Productions on the Norwegian Pride of Aloha in Hawaii as a dancer/singer in Runnin Wild as well as Sea Legs Cirque. Some of her professional credits include working as a back-up dancer for Weird Al Yankovik’s Tour, WNBA All-Star game dancer, and WNBA Solar Power dancer. Javin has just returned from filming a segment for Dreaming Green, a reality television feature that was produced by NBA-TV.

Sandra Shih
Sandra honors Turn it Up Dance Challenge with her BFA in Dance Performance from New York University and an expected MFA in Chorography from Smith College. She started her training in classical ballet in Taipei, Taiwan where she danced with the Four Season Ballet and Wu-I dance Company. She then moved to New York City where she danced with Ballet masters such as David Howard, Jack Hertzog, Michael Vernon as well as Jazz masters, Rick Atwell and Stephen Harding, Theater dance masters, Ann Reinking and Debbie Roche. Miss Sandra Shih toured nationally with a Broadway production of the King And I. In addition, she has been the lead dancer and choreographer for more than 75 different concerts for singers from Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, and New York area since 1996. Sandra is currently a second year teaching fellow at Smith College and faculty member at Amherst Ballet and Pioneer Valley Ballet.

Lauren Mangano
Lauren Mangano joins Turn it Up as an honors graduate from Dean College from which she holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Dance. While at Dean Lauren’s Graduate focus was Pedagogy, Composition, and Creative Movement with a Concentration in Vagoniva and Horton Technique’s. She has performed with Dance Extravaganza dancing for Maurice Hines and A.C Ciulla, the Albany Berkshire Ballet, and with Isaac Hayes. Lauren continues to travel as a Master teacher and has taught for Star Systems Broadway Experience. She is also Director and Performer for Release Dance Company. Lauren is reigning Miss Worcester County 2006 and has been involved in the Miss Massachusetts America Organization for five years. She is also employed as a model as well as a dance instructor, through which she has been nationally recognized for her choreography. Lauren currently travels as a judge for several nationally recognized dance competitions and is an agent for the national convention Planet Dance.

Sarah Style
Sarah joins us as a graduate of Colby College where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Dance. There, she trained in modern dance technique, performance, and choreography with choreographer Tina Wentzel as well as nationally renowned choreographer, Heidi Henderson. As a participant of the Tisch Modern Dance Program, Sarah has had the pleasure of working with David Dorfman, Vincent Mantsoe, Doug Varone, and Sean Curran. Sarah is currently a member of Tandem Dance Inc., a jazz infused modern dance company based in Boston. In addition to her work with Tandem, Sarah has had the fortunate opportunity to dance for Andrea Blesso, Sean Hoskins, and the Danny Swain Dance Company (DSDC). In addition to her performance work, she is currently on the dance faculty at The Ballet Space, in Framingham, MA and at Dana Hall School in Wellesley, MA. Sarah is also currently a student at Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Jayson Douglas
Jayson joins us from New Jersey working at Ballet Memphis under the direction of Karl Condon. He began his training at Steps on Broadway in New York and furthered his training at the Point Park Conservatory in Pittsburgh, PA. He then went onto join North Carolina Dance Theatre, where he danced under the direction of Patricia Mc Bride and Mark Diamond. While there he learned many Balanchine ballets such as Who Cares, Valse Fantasie, and Allegro Brillante. He then joined Ballet Theatre of Maryland where he danced in many demi-soloist and soloist roles in ballets such as Scarlet Letter, The Nutcracker, and Latin Romance. Jayson has also had the pleasure to dance for Jean Ann Ryan Productions aboard the Norwegian Cruise line. He has also danced with Illinois Ballet, Ballet Quad Cities and Albany Berkshire Ballet. Jayson’s summer programs include NCDT, Illinois Ballet, International Summer Dance, Orlando Ballet and most recently Boston Ballet on full scholarship.
